Dear NEET Aspirants and Parents,
In today’s update from My Career My Future (MCMF), our expert counsellors explain the ongoing confusion during Round 3 of MBBS Counselling 2025 — where several states are releasing, withdrawing, and revising results.
This blog also explains what MCC’s “Weed-Out Process” means, why it’s essential, and how it affects both MCC and State counselling rounds.
🧾 Why Are States Withdrawing Round 3 Results?
Many students were confused when states like Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand first released their Round 3 results — and then suddenly withdrew or postponed them.
Here’s the reason 👇
When MCC released its Round 3 schedule, it mentioned that on 28th and 29th October, a list of candidates who have joined seats under MCC Round 3 will be shared with all states.
This was done under the Supreme Court’s directive to avoid duplicate seat allotments.
In simple words —
Many students apply for both MCC counselling (All India quota) and multiple State counsellings at the same time to increase their chances.
For example:
A student might join an MCC seat but their name could still appear in a State’s Round 3 merit list.
If not removed, that seat in the state would remain blocked — even though the student has already joined elsewhere.
To avoid this, MCC introduced the “Weed-Out Process.”
⚖️ What Is the Weed-Out Process?
The Weed-Out Process ensures fairness and transparency by removing the names of students who have already joined an MCC seat from all other state merit lists.
This allows eligible and waiting students to get those seats instead of them remaining blocked.
🔹 Why It’s Important:
-
	Prevents duplicate seat allotments.
-
Ensures maximum utilization of available medical seats.
-
Gives new opportunities to students still waiting for admission.
-
Maintains transparency between MCC and State authorities.
📅 Important Dates and Updates
Originally, MCC announced that states would receive the list of joined candidates on 28–29 October 2025.
However, a new notification released on 28 October clarified that states will be able to download this list officially from MCC’s portal after 1 November 2025.
Once states verify which students have joined through MCC, they will:
-
Remove those names from their provisional lists, and
-
Re-publish the final Round 3 results.
🗂️ State-Wise Updates So Far
Here’s how different states are handling it:
| State | Current Status |
|---|---|
| Punjab | Released provisional result, mentioned that final result will come after 1 November. |
| Karnataka | Declared provisional result but kept it on hold until verification from MCC data. |
| Haryana | Withdrawn Round 3 result, will reissue after MCC verification. |
| Uttarakhand | Released new schedule aligning with MCC’s weed-out process. |
So, states that had declared results are now withdrawing them, and those that hadn’t released yet are publishing new schedules after MCC’s data verification.
It’s expected that final results will now start releasing around 3–4 November 2025, depending on each state’s process speed.
🎯 Why This Delay Is Actually a Good Sign
While delays can seem stressful, this coordination between MCC and States ensures:
-
Genuine seat allocation (no overlaps or wastage)
-
	Fair chance for waiting students
-
Smoother transition to Round 4 and mop-up phases
Ultimately, the Weed-Out Process benefits all serious candidates by making sure every seat is allotted properly.
