What does NEET stand for?

 

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) serves as India’s sole national-level entrance examination for MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS) programs. Administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET 2026 will decide the admissions for all government, private, and deemed medical institutions throughout India.

Revised Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2026

 

In order to participate in NEET 2026:

  • A candidate should be at least 17 years of age by December 31, 2026.

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 with subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.

  • Minimum Score Requirements:

    • General: 50%

    • OBC/SC/ST: 40%

    • PwD: 45%

The syllabus for NEET is derived from the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12.

NEET 2026 Application Procedure

 

  • Complete the online registration at neet.nta.nic.in

  • Submit a passport-sized photograph, signature, and an acceptable identification document

  • Pay the application fee (Rs 1700 for General category)

  • Save the confirmation page for your records


NEET 2026 Admit Card & Exam Guidelines

 

  • The admit card will be available starting in May, 2026.

  • Make sure to bring a printed version of the admit card and a photo ID (such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport).

  • Only carry essentials like a pen, a water bottle, and necessary documents.

  • Refrain from bringing prohibited items such as smartwatches or notes.

NEET 2026 Results and Counseling Procedure

 

  • Results anticipated approximately in June, 2026.

  • The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) manages the All India Quota (AIQ) counseling for 15% of the seats.

  • State authorities are responsible for conducting State Quota counseling for the remaining 85% of the seats.
