Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir
MBBS in Jammu & Kashmir
J & K NEET Counseling 2026:
Jammu & Kashmir had a different status before removal of Article 370 from the State. The State was not participating in AIQ Counselling. The J&K students were given two options either to participate in 15% AIQ Counselling or to participate in 100% Govt Quota counselling conducted by the State Counselling Committee on Govt. Seats of States’ Govt Medical Colleges. Other State Students neither had option to join J&K Govt Colleges through AIQ nor they had access to Private Medical College of the State.
MBBS Admission Procedure in Jammu & Kashmir
Since 2022, the Jammu & Kashmir, has also decided to participate in AIQ Counselling. Since then, State is pooling 15% seats of its Govt. Medical Colleges to AIQ. It means, after this change, the other State students can also get admission on MBBS seats of Jammu & Kashmir through All India Quota.
Jammu & Kashmir is a closed State from MBBS admissions point of view, hence, other state students cannot take admission on Private Medical Colleges seats of Jammu & Kashmir.

There are 10 Govt Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir and 1 Private Medical College in Jammu & Kashmir.
Seats in Jammu & Kashmir
There are 1177 seats in Govt. Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir and 100 seats in Private Medical College. Out of 1177 seats of Govt. Medical Colleges 15% will be pooled in AIQ, hence, the student of the J&K will get chance to take admission on remaining 85% Govt. seats.
Since, Jammu & Kashmir is closed state, the student of the state will have opportunity to take admission on 100% seats of the Private Medical college of the state. There are 100 seats in ASCOM, Jammu.

Reservation Criteria in Jammu & Kashmir
Apart from other reservation, Jammu & Kashmir is the only state in India, where, there is reservation for Hindu Minority in Private Medical college of the state. Such reservation is not there in Govt. Medical Colleges of the State. 25% of ASCOM, Jammu seatsi.e. 25 seats are reserved under this quota.
