Overall Numbers – Punjab NRI PG Round 1

  • Total NRI Clinical Seats: 33

  • Allotted: 14

  • Vacant: 19

So, more than half (19/33) clinical NRI seats are still vacant after Round 1.

Why This Matters for Percentile & Future Rounds

Round 1 is usually the stage where:

  • Maximum allotments should happen

  • Base is created for how much percentile may dip later

But here in Punjab:

  • Only 14 out of 33 seats are taken

  • 19 seats are still vacant

  • In Round 2, some shuffling/upgradation will happen

  • Very few new NRI applicants (maybe 3–4 fresh applications) are expected

This means:

  • Even in Round 2, many NRI seats in Punjab are likely to remain available

  • On top of that, among the 14 allotted seats, around 8 students have also got MCC seats in Deemed Universities

  • These students will finally have to decide:

    • Will they join Punjab NRI seat, or

    • Will they join MCC Deemed seat?

If some of them choose MCC/Deemed, more NRI seats in Punjab will open up again.

Estimated:

  • Out of 14 current allotments, only 8–10 may finally join in Punjab

  • So 4–6 more seats can also remain empty after joining is over

This makes Punjab a very important state to watch for NRI Round 2 opportunities.

FAQ – Common Questions from Parents & Students

Q1. How many NRI clinical seats were there in Punjab Round 1?

There were 33 NRI clinical seats in total across branches and colleges.

Q2. How many NRI seats are still vacant?

19 seats are still vacant after Round 1.

Q3. Will NRI vacancies be visible in Round 2 also?

Yes. Because:

  • 19 are already vacant

  • Plus some students may leave their Punjab NRI seats if they join MCC/Deemed colleges

So, NRI vacancies will definitely appear in Round 2.

Q4. Is Punjab a good option for NRI PG students now?

Yes, especially because:

  • Many clinical seats are vacant

  • There is less fresh competition from new applicants

  • Students with the right guidance can target specific branches and institutes.
