Punjab NEET PG Counselling 2025: Round 3 Schedule, Revised Cutoff & Important Rules Explained

If you are participating in Punjab NEET PG counselling and planning to appear in Round 3, this update is extremely important for you. After the revised cutoff, Punjab has released a new counselling schedule framework. While the final dates are still awaited, the listed activities themselves give clear direction on what candidates should prepare for.

This blog explains the revised percentile, security deposit rules, NRI eligibility process, seat surrender guidelines, and what to expect next—all in simple language.

Revised Qualifying Percentile: Key Update

Punjab has officially reduced the qualifying percentile for NEET PG:

  • General category:

    • Earlier qualifying percentile → 276

    • Revised qualifying percentile → 103

  • SC / BC / Reserved categories:

    • Revised qualifying percentiles have also been announced accordingly

📌 This revision allows many more candidates—including first-time qualifiers—to participate in Round 3 counselling.

Security Deposit: Mandatory for All Round 3 Participants

One of the most misunderstood points in Punjab counselling is the security deposit rule.

Who needs to pay the security deposit?

  • Students who already participated in Round 1 or Round 2

  • Students who are participating for the first time in Round 3

  • Students coming only for upgradation

  • Students newly qualified after percentile revision

👉 Everyone must pay the security deposit, without exception.

Security Deposit Amounts

Government Medical Colleges

  • General category: ₹25,000

  • SC / BC / PwD candidates: ₹10,000

Private Medical Colleges

  • ₹2,00,000 (₹2 lakh) security deposit

📌 If you are entering Punjab counselling for the first time, you still have to pay ₹2 lakh for private medical colleges.

NRI Quota Candidates: What to Expect

For students planning PG admission under the NRI quota in Punjab:

  • Eligibility certificates and NRI-related documentation will be required

  • The process start date and last date are not yet announced

  • These details are mentioned in Point No. 3 of the schedule

🔔 As soon as Punjab releases official dates, candidates must act quickly—NRI processes are time-sensitive and document-heavy.

Seat Surrender Rules (Very Important)

Punjab has clearly explained the seat surrender process for Round 3.

Who can surrender a seat?

  • Students who:

    • Took admission in Round 1 or Round 2

    • Now want to exit or upgrade in Round 3

Important Conditions

  • Seat surrender is allowed

  • Security deposit will be forfeited

  • Surrender must be done physically at the allotted college

👉 You must visit the same college where the seat was allotted and apply for surrender there.
Only that college can enable seat surrender in the system.

⚠️ Final surrender last date is still awaited, as MCC surrender timelines are currently ongoing.

Why Seat Surrender Timing Matters

  • Only surrendered seats are considered for:

    • Upgradation

    • Fresh allotment in Round 3

  • After surrender:

    • Seats are re-pooled

    • Final Round 3 allotment is done afresh

Missing the surrender deadline means:

  • No upgradation

  • Seat remains blocked

  • Loss of better opportunities

What Is Still Pending?

As of now:

  • ❌ Final dates are not announced

  • ✅ Activities & rules are clearly defined

Once Punjab releases:

  • Exact dates for security deposit

  • NRI eligibility process

  • Seat surrender deadlines

👉 Students must act immediately.

Final Advice for Punjab PG Round 3 Aspirants

  • ✔️ Understand revised percentile eligibility

  • ✔️ Arrange security deposit in advance

  • ✔️ Prepare documents (especially NRI candidates)

  • ✔️ Decide early about seat surrender or upgradation

  • ✔️ Do not wait for last dates

Punjab Round 3 can be a game-changer, especially after the cutoff revision—but only if you are well-prepared and informed.
