PUNJAB NRI QUOTA MBBS ADMISSION

Punjab has big number of NRIs settled abroad and has NRI quota in Government and Private Medical colleges. There are good number of NRI seats in Govt and Private Medical colleges of Punjab. In comparison of other States there is Low MBBS Fee in Punjab for NRI students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who wants to apply under NRI quota seats, have to obtain provisional Eligibility/equivalency certificate from BFUHS, Faridkot and will have to qualify NEET-UG-2024 and candidates will apply on prescribed proforma available on website along with prescribed fee for seats under NRI Quota.

Only NRI/Children of NRI who belong to the state of Punjab or NRI/Children of NRI who belong to an Indian State other than Punjab are only eligible to take admission in Punjab under NRI Quota. NRI Sponsored students are NOT allowed for MBBS admission in Punjab under NRI Quota.

The important points related MBBS Seats under NRI Quota in Punjab:

• The students applying under NRI Quota have to personally appear in BFUHS, Faridkot or document verification and after document verification students would get Eligibility Certificate. Only students with Eligibility Certificate would be allowed to participate for NRI Seats under NRI Quota.

• The Centralized counselling of NRI Quota seats shall be held before the counselling for other categories.

• OCI/PIO candidates shall be considered only for 15% NRI Quota seats.

• The preference for admission under NRI category shall be considered as under:-
• NRIs/Children of NRI who originally belong to the State of Punjab.
• NRIs/Children of NRI who originally belong to an Indian State other than Punjab.

Under this policy Non Resident means a person of Indian Origin, whether holding an Indian Passport or Foreign Passport, who is either permanently or temporarily settled outside India and in either case:

• For or an taking up employment outside India; or
• For carrying on a business or vocation outside India;or
• For any other purpose, in such circumstances, as would indicate his intention to stay outside India for an uncertain period;

The First preference will be given to NRIs/OCIs/PIOs belonging to the State of Punjab and then of other States.

NRI MBBS SEATS & FEES in Punjab:

Documents Required for MBBS Admission under NRI Quota:

1. Equivalency Certificate issued by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, if applicable.
2. Conversion Certificate of grading to percentage of marks, if applicable.
3. Other Miscellaneous docs.

Cut-off of NRI Quota in Punjab

1. Cut off in Government Medical Colleges under NRI Quota in Punjab – Based on preferences cut-off varies in Government Medical Colleges under NRI Quota in Punjab. Generally, Government Medical Colleges seats of NRI Quota get filled at reasonable score.

• Cut off in Private Medical Colleges under NRI Quota in Punjab – There is not much demand of NRI Quota seats of Private Colleges of Punjab, hence, students with qualifying mark can also get the seat under NRI Quota, subject to fulfilment of NRI Criteria.

Selection criteria

• A separate merit list will be drawn to fill-up NRI quota seats through Centralized Counselling Committee on the basis of NEET-UG-2024 rank/score.
• Vacant NRI Seats will be converted into Management quota.
